Over the course of my artistic career, I have found I love creating patterns. During school, I worked to combine the use of printmaking, digital art and even sewing.

Digital Art Final Project

For my university final fro my digital art major, I wanted to incorporate my love for printmaking and digital art into one. What better way to incapsulate it by making a jacket! Spending over 65 hours printing on fabric, patch working and quilting a jacket, it was definitely ambitious, but the end result is well worth it. Patterns were made from linoleum and wood blocks, glo-forged patterns and screen prints.

Alongside the jacket is a four-part print series that depicts my Sunday morning growing up. I wanted to express the many facets of growing up as half Japanese, half white American in the US. Each print has an accompanied pattern placed behind. Extra fabric not used to make the jacket is placed further behind.

The Four Prints:  Titled Polyptych of Sunday Morning, Color linoleum print on paper, 2023

The Jacket: Titled Untitled (Emma’s Jacket), Wood, linoleum and screen-print on second-hand fabric, 2023
